MCC’s PR campaign was fundamental to this property’s development from concept to evolution into a children’s animated series with adjoining licensing programme. We were asked to create a bedrock of media interest in the Oggies, in order to help Galleon’s licensing agent target retail buyers and licensees. In addition, we were required to promote Oggies to a wider audience of potential investors, strategic business partners and media champions.
A mixture of ‘core’ PR work (press releases, interviews, feature tracking, article placements) combined with innovative PR and marketing campaigns was undertaken to ensure the Oggies received a wide spread of coverage and awareness.
A school road show was undertaken throughout Cornwall (home of the fictional Oggies), which generated tremendous amounts of coverage in regional print media as well as interviews on regional radio stations and TV news coverage. The tour also cemented relationships with key regional journalists as well as raising the profile of Oggies with prospective licensees and promotional partners.
The retail buyer initiative – where key buyers at leading multiples received an Oggies lunchbox complete with long-life Cornish pasty, CD-rom presentation, licensing activity newsletter and Oggies badges and poster – resulted in five meetings with Marks & Spencer, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons.
